Although not a separate area of practice per se, dividing marital assets are one of the most easily misidentified areas of a divorce or dissolution. It is certainly easy to divide a home that is 100% marital, but what happens if one party placed a separate amount on the down payment of the home prior to the parties’ marriage? What if the home was inherited but later improved with marital money?
